GREEN RAY NEWS.
12th November 2008. Forthcoming Gigs: 25th November at the Klinka Club, Maggies bar, 92 Church Street, Stoke Newington, London N16. 12th December at the Plough Inn, Walthamstow. This will be The Green Ray’s Christmas Bash with Special Guest Malcolm Morley.
Well, we hope you enjoyed the last few gigs that the guys played. As you can see above there are a couple of dates for your diary. As we fast approach the season to be jolly we usually have a Friday Night in December at The Plough Inn and this year it will be on the 12th. Please note that the usual Tuesday gig scheduled for 2nd December has been cancelled and replaced by the Christmas Bash with Malcolm Morley on Friday the 12th. Being on a Friday night we get the benefit of later licensing hours so we will start around 9.15pm and the doors open at 8.30pm. So expect longer sets and a bit of jamming between both sets of artists. A measly £5.00 for a great nights entertainment, so how can you resist? For details of how to get there, then just go to The Plough Inn’s website at : www.theploughinne17.co.uk
Merry Crimbo to you all and Keep It Green! Jeff.
13th October 2008. Added review plus photographs of At The Plough Inn 7/Oct/2008 with Malcolm Morley to the Green Ray Live section.
23rd September 2008. Did you enjoy the summer? Well, what can you say? The guys returned on the 2nd September and were on blistering form. Richard brandishing ye olde Stratocaster which had just been serviced and wow.. did the man give it a good going over!...
Now, are you paying attention? October 7th at the Plough Inn - Green Ray plus special guest Malcolm Morley. Yep, Malcolm Morley! Malcolm will be performing a support set so please arrive early for this one. 8.30pm should be fine. For all those who’ve been wondering what Malcolm has been up to in recent days, well now’s your chance to find out. I’m sure we shall have a great night’s music ahead of us so please come along and support this one. £5.00 admission. Miss it and miss out!
Keep it Green! Jeff
2nd July 2008. Summers finally here!!! Well folks, as I’m writing this update I have just received and e-mail from former HELP YOURSELF bassist Paul Burton’s wife Tina. She asks that if anyone out there has any photos of Paul with the HELP’s and ICEBERG can you please get in touch via this web site (e-mail info@senzatempo.co.uk ). Please check our Help Yourself's Gallery first to make sure that we haven’t already got them. Thanks.
Green Ray’s recent gigs with Barry (The Fish) Melton went off smoothly with their show at The Musician venue in Leicester being the highlight. Sadly, a couple of Festival gigs were cancelled. However, a splendid time was had by all at the gig at The Classic Rock Club in Cheshunt. The PLOUGH gigs are as wonderful as ever and it’s nice to see attendance’s growing at The Plough each time, so please keep supporting the ‘Ray and tell all your friends too!
While on the subject of the Plough, please note that there will be no gig in August as we are all going off to our country retreats to “get it together” and enjoy a long earned rest. However we will be back on 2nd September at the Plough tanned, rested and ready to roll!! Until then have a great Summer and happy holidays!
24th March 2008. LOST IN FRANCE. A quick update for you popickers! Due to a band member swanning off on Holiday ,wont mention who, but have a good time ! Simon,(DONT TELL HIM YOUR NAME PIKE!) the next Plough gig has been changed and will now take place on the 15th of April, with support from Martin James. We have added a Picture Gallery to the HELP YOURSELF section with some interesting bits and bobs that are worth looking into, with more to come............

Be Good. Jeff.
18th February 2008. Please note that the gig originally set for 4th March has now been moved to the 11th March. So don’t turn up on the 4th as we won’t be there!
19th January 2008. First up, Happy New Year to one and all. Thanks for all your support last year. The guys really appreciate it and hope to see you all real soon. I must apologise for not including the recent Classic Rock gig at Cheshunt in the gig news page, due to Christmas madness and work. No excuses, slapped wrist time - just forgot to list it! Anyhow I know that the Newman Brothers recorded the show and if the quality is good enough then there could be a possible CD release. More on that as we get the info.
Reflecting on last year, the band had a steady run of gigs throughout the tear, a few festival appearances, some joint gigs with Barry Melton plus playing with Deke Leonard’s Iceberg - a review of which written by intrepid reporter Richard Gould can be read by following this link to our Green Ray Live section. Thanks once again Rich.
Our regular monthly slot at The Plough has been quite well attended throughout the year and continues on again this year, but more on that later. I’d like to thank our support bands for their services last year, especially “Mouthful of Grass” and “The T-Project”. Also thanks to Bruv Ed for keeping the website up to date.
Ok, on to this year 2008. This year sees the 40th anniversary of The MAN Band and hopefully there will be some celebratory gigs lined up. Speaking to Deke Leonard at the Plough when he appeared not too long ago, he was hopeful that something special will happen and that hopefully past members such as Ken Whaley and Malcolm Morley may be asked to participate. If anything does transpire then I will post info here as soon as I get it.
As mentioned earlier, our monthly Plough gig on first Tuesday of the month slot kicks off on February 5th where the guys will be supported by Martin James and the next appearance will be on 11th March (not the 4th as originally stated) where the support will be T for the Wicked. So we hope to see you all in a few weeks time. Keep it green! Jeff.
4th October 2007 Just a quickie to let you know that the bands next two gigs at the Plough Inn have been put forward a week, so October’s gig will be on the 9th, and November’s will be on the 13th, So don’t turn up on the dates listed as we wont be there!!
The Ray will be supporting old friend Sean Tyla (The Tyla Gang) on the 10th of October at the 100 Club ,Oxford St, London. Arrive no later than 8.45 to catch the guys on this one.
The Ray will also be supporting Deke Leonards Iceberg at The Plough Inn on Saturday 17th November.
Keep it Green !
Jeff
3rd September 2007 Summers nearly over - did it ever happen? The Summer of Love Gig and the dates with Barry (Melton) went along fairly smoothly, a highlight being the Plough show with Barry with some great music and everybody having a fun time. And as an added bonus Nick from The Bevis Frond joined the guys for a rousing last number. These guys should get into a studio together. I’m sure the results would be great!
I’ve added a new review from our roving eye reporter Richard Gould which can be read at At the Plough Inn 03/07/2007 and will be adding some Photos to the Gallery from the Plough gig soon. Speaking of which, we are back to our resident Tuesday spot at The Plough Inn on the 4th of Sept where The Ray will be supported by Martin James and their next appearance there will be Tuesday 2nd October with support to be confirmed and thereafter, so our batteries being recharged we hope to see you all over the next few gigs.
Keep It Green Jeff.
